We are pleased to share that the first stage of repairs to our beloved church’s belfry is now complete. As was discussed at our annual Vestry meeting in March, over the winter months the members of the Church Corporation worked diligently to obtain several estimates in preparation for making repairs to the bell tower. Reiche Masonry was awarded the contract, and we have been pleased to partner with them to see the exterior of the belfry re-pointed and the louvres and doors given a new coat of white paint.
It is our hope and intention that subsequent work to further restore the belfry will be completed in stages. This year we have completed repairs to the exterior of the belfry. In the coming years we plan to continue working to re-point the inside of the tower, as well as other parts of the church, as funds permit and circumstances warrant.
St. Patrick’s stands as a treasured part of our Anglican heritage in the Ottawa Valley, and we are proud as a community to see its stonework faithfully restored. However, as with any significant repair effort, the work comes with a financial cost. Fortunately, St. Patrick’s has been blessed with funds on hand in its Building Restoration Fund, as well as funds raised from the Christ Church Cathedral Girls Choir Evensong earlier this year, which have enabled the Church Corporation to proceed with the current repairs. Moving forward though, additional funds will be needed if we are to continue the work of restoring our church’s beloved stonework, which has watched life’s seasons come and go since 1896.
As you are able, please prayerfully consider contributing to the St. Patrick’s Building Restoration Fund.
