The Parish of the Valley would like to warmly welcome our student intern, Gaby Klukas. Gaby comes to us from the Parish of St Barnabas, Deep River and is in the process of completing her Master of Divinity degree from Wycliffe College in Toronto. She will be with the Parish of the Valley for the duration of the Winter Term 2020 for 10 hours per week.

As a part of her internship with the Parish, Gaby will be supervised by Canon Susan, with the church of St John the Evanglist, Eganville as her "homebase." However, Gaby will be travelling throughout the Parish participating in events and assisting in the leadership of services at many of the churches in the Parish.

We are excited to welcome Gaby and will let her introduce herself in her own words:

My name is Gaby Klukas. I grew up in Austria and was trained there as a family doctor. After my marriage to my husband Martin, who is from Vancouver, I moved to Deep River twenty one years ago, where my husband has been working as an engineer for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories for all his career. I have been a full time mother for our three boys, two of which have left home and study in Vancouver, and the youngest is now in high school. I enjoy the outdoors. Hiking, canoeing and cross country skiing, as well as gardening and knitting are among my favorite activities. As our children grew independent, I became increasingly involved with volunteer work at our home church, St. Barnabas Anglican Church in Deep River. During my training as a Lay-Reader I felt a call to priesthood emerge. I am currently going through the discernment process for ordained ministry in the diocese of Ottawa. Since September 2018 I am attending seminary at Wycliffe College in Toronto, taking courses remotely from home during the winter. I am excited that I will have the opportunity this term to complete a field education placement in the Parish of the Valley. I greatly look forward to getting to know many of you.
