The Rev. Dr. Sony Jabouin

The Reverend Dr. Sony Jabouin is a priest in the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, guided by a vocation of service, deep listening, and spiritual transformation. Born in southern Haiti, he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 2003 and served for over two decades as a parish priest, educator, school principal, and spiritual guide.

In 2008, he came to Canada to pursue graduate studies. He earned a Master’s degree in Mission Studies and Interreligious Dialogue from Saint Paul University in Ottawa in 2009, followed by a Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa in 2010. He later completed a Doctorate in Education at the University of Ottawa in 2018, focusing on adult education, the professional integration of immigrant teachers, and student success.

From 2010 to 2017, he served as a pastoral animator with the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) of Ontario. He has also taught part-time at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Education, contributing to the formation of future educators. Since 2017, he teaches at the elementary and intermediate levels with the CECCE.

In May 2025, responding to a profound spiritual call, he was received into the Anglican Church of Canada, continuing his ministry along a path of communion, humility, and deep listening.

Sony is passionate about community-based ministry, everyday spirituality, transformative education, and contextual church life. He describes himself as a Priest of Advent — a watchman of hope and a sower of light, serving the Gospel in a world that is ever-changing.

Le révérend Dr. Sony Jabouin est prêtre dans le Diocèse anglican d’Ottawa, guidé par une vocation de service, d’écoute profonde et de transformation spirituelle. Né dans le sud d’Haïti, il a été ordonné prêtre catholique romain en 2003 et a servi pendant plus de vingt ans comme curé, éducateur, directeur d’école et guide spirituel.

En 2008, il est venu au Canada pour entreprendre des études supérieures. Il a obtenu une maîtrise en études missionnaires et en dialogue interreligieux de l’Université Saint-Paul à Ottawa en 2009, suivie d’un baccalauréat en éducation de l’Université d’Ottawa en 2010. Il a ensuite complété un doctorat en éducation à l’Université d’Ottawa en 2018, avec un accent sur l’éducation des adultes, l’intégration professionnelle des enseignants immigrants et la réussite scolaire.

De 2010 à 2017, il a exercé la fonction d’animateur pastoral. Depuis 2017, il enseigne aux niveaux élémentaire et intermédiaire au sein du Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est en Ontario. Il a également enseigné à temps partiel à la Faculté d’éducation de l’Université d’Ottawa, contribuant à la formation de la relève enseignante.

En mai 2025, répondant à un profond appel spirituel, il a été reçu dans l’Église anglicane du Canada, poursuivant ainsi son ministère sur un chemin de communion, d’humilité et d’écoute attentive.

Sony est passionné par la pastorale communautaire, la spiritualité au quotidien, l’éducation transformatrice et une vie ecclésiale enracinée dans son milieu. Il se décrit comme un prêtre de l’Avent — un veilleur d’espérance et un semeur de lumière, au service de l’Évangile dans un monde en perpétuel changement.
