The holy seasons of Advent and Christmas are amongst the most meaningful, most beloved times of the year for many Christians. Whether it is the presence of family and friends, or the memories of treasured times long past, or the manifest reminder that God, Emmanuel, truly is with us - there are myriad reasons for our hearts to be warmed during these seasons. Yet nothing quite evokes these sentiments like the music which we sing and hear on Sunday mornings, at Christmas concerts, and neighbourhood carolling.

As we enter into this time of expectant waiting, and hope-filled rejoicing, let us consider some of these beloved hymns and carols that are so well-known, or perhaps newly discovered, and reflect on their place in our hearts.

Lectio Divina, or “Divine Reading” is one way in which some Christians “read, mark, and inwardly digest” holy scripture, with certain steps involved to guide their meditation, for our purposes, we’ll be following a similar pattern for some of our favourite hymns and carols of the Advent and Christmas seasons.

We will gather on Zoom at 7pm on December 6th, 13th, and 20th.
