Parish of the Valley Lenten StudyTuesdays on Zoom & Thursdays in Person The Parish of the Valley's Lenten Study dives into "Signs of Life: Why Church Matters," a five week study created by the Brothers of the Society of St. John the Evangelist (SSJE). Over the course of Lent, we are examining five distinct themes: light, water, food, shelter, and community, in the light of scripture, worship, and spiritual practices. This week we looked at "light;" next week is "water." Each session is stand-alone, so do not worry if you missed the first week! The study is being held both in person and on Zoom - the material will be the same at both offerings. In Person - Thursdays at 1pm at St. John's Eganville beginning February 22nd through March 21st. On Zoom - Tuesdays at 7pm beginning February 20th through March 19th. For the Zoom link and meeting passcode, please click the blue button. Holden Evening PrayerWeekly Sung Services during Lent Our parish is once again partnering with St. Timothy’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pembroke (503 Alfred St.) to offer Holden Evening Prayer at St. Timothy’s on Wednesday evenings during Lent at 7pm. Lenten Devotions
Each Lent we share a number of daily devotional reflections that parishioners may enjoy adding to their daily prayer practices throughout the season. This year we again have some familliar and some new suggestions for you to consider. The Primate's World Relief & Development Fund again offers a daily reflection. Written by renowened biblical scholar Dr. Sylvia Keesmaat, PWRDF invites you to join Dr. Keesmaat as she walks with us through Lent, looking at the theme of health and well-being, offering meditations on our current climate crisis and the well-being of ALL of creation, human and non-human. Lent Madness is a fun and interactive daily Lenten practice where we learn about the different people listed in the Church Calendar of Saints. It is in the format of a tournament-style elimination bracket and each day you can vote for one of the profiled saints. We have also prepared a Lenten Practices Calendar that incorporates the lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and giving into small daily prompts for each day of the season of Lent. With this calendar of practices, you won't be asked to fast from food or give money, but to explore other ways we might fast, pray, and give in this season. Links to sign up for the PWRDF reflections, to follow along with Lent Madness, and to download the Lenten Practices Calendar are available by clicking the blue button below. The calendar is also available in hard copy from your church. For more infomation visit: https://www.valleyanglicans.ca/ministries/prayer/pages/lenten-devotions-2024
