Lenten LearningThursdays at 7pm on Zoom, March 2nd to 30th Our parish's Lenten Learning series on Zoom is now underway! This year, rather than studying a particular book or a portion of holy scripture, your clergy team has asked you, the members of the Parish of the Valley, to help us plan our parish's Lenten study together. Thank you for sending us your thought provoking questions and comments over the past few weeks. We have now grouped your questions into five overarching themes, one for each evening of the Lenten Study. Week 1 (Last night): The Bible & Scriptural Authority (i.e. What is the Bible and how do we relate to it?) Week 2: Anglican History & Identity (i.e. Who are we as Anglicans and what defines us as a tradition?) Week 3: Anglican Theology (i.e. What do we believe as Anglicans: about God, about Jesus, about heaven, etc.) Week 4: Prayer (i.e. What is it, and what is our relationship to it?) Week 5: Christianity & The World Today (i.e. Where are we now as the Church, and where are we going?) We hope you will join us for these interactive 90 minute sessions. Each session will begin with a brief presentation, followed by questions and discussion moderated by members of our clergy team. We likely wont be able to offer answers to all of your questions, but we trust that the Holy Spirit will be working in us as we listen to each other, and search for answers together. Please use the following Zoom link to log-in: Topic: Parish of the Valley Lenten Study Join Zoom Meeting Meeting ID: 881 7503 5453 Dial by your location (Don't forget to dial 10-10-710 for $1 per hour long distance). +1 780 666 0144 Canada For more infomation visit: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88175035453?pwd=YmdUU0ZOdS9HeHJKUGI1VlNlajVJQT09

Holden Evening PrayerWednesdays at 7pm, March 1st to 29th St Timothy's Lutheran Church in Pembroke invites all members of the Parish of the Valley to join them for Holden Evening Prayer at 7pm on Wednesday evenings during the season of Lent. The first service was held this past Wednesday evening and was very well attended, including by many parishioners from across the Parish of the Valley. Holden Evening Prayer is a musical setting of evening prayer written by Marty Haugan. You can watch an example by clicking here. This lovely setting of vespers follows the traditional form while using contemporary and inclusive language. Rev. Matthew and Rev. Nick will be sharing in the leadership of these evening liturgies, together with Pastor Bruce Thompson from St Timothy's. We pray these short services will be an opportunity for many of us to stay centred in prayer as we make our annual Lenten pilgrimage. St Timothy's can be found at 503 Alfred St, Pembroke. |

Impact Zambia
Rev. Allan Studd is one of our parish's Honourary Assistant clergy. In addition to being a retired priest, Allan is a Psychotherapist with a specialty in couples and families and is also part of a short term missionary team called Impact Zambia. The project is part of International Teams Canada. The project partners with a Christian community in Itezhi-tezhi, central Zambia, and seeks to raise people out of poverty by teaching them marketable skills. The project has built the Life Impact Training Centre from which to teach these skills, and has also launched a four year diploma course in Marriage and Family Counselling. Unfortunately, International Teams Canada had to stop all travel to Zambia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the COVID situation now improving, Rev. Allan plans to travel back to Zambia this summer for the first time in a number of years. It takes about $6,000 to finance the cost of a three week long teaching trip, and Rev. Allan would be grateful for any support that might be offered by fellow members of the Parish of the Valley towards this very worthwhile outreach ministry. In the coming weeks Rev. Allan will be sharing stories about his work with Impact Zambia as a guest preacher across the Parish of the Valley. His preaching visits will include: February 26th - St. John's Eganville March 5th - St. Anthony's Whitney & Epiphany Barry's Bay March 12th - St. Patrick's Lower Stafford & St. Paul's Cobden March 19th - Holy Trinity Pembroke March 26th - St. George's South Alice & All Saints Petawawa In the mean time, if you would like to support Rev. Allan's upcoming trip, you can do so by clicking on the blue donation button below. Please be sure to select Allan's name from the team-member menu. If you prefer to give by mail, cheques made out to "International Teams Canada" with "Impact Zambia - Rev. Allan Studd" marked clearly in the memo line may be mailed to: iTeams Canada, 1 Union Street, Elmira, Ontario, N3B 3J9. International Teams Canada is a registered charity and all funds received are eligible for an income tax receipt. For more infomation visit:

Annual Vestry MeetingSunday March 5th 2023 Holy Trinity Pembroke's Annual Vestry Meeting will take place on Sunday March 5th following the 10AM Holy Eucharist and a potluck led by the ACW. The Rev. Matthew Brown and the Rev. Claire Bramma will serve as co-chairs of the Vestry. A copy of the reports package can be downloaded by clicking on the blue button below. A Vestry serves as the governing body of a congregation and is accountable to our diocesan synod. All members of a congregation age 16 and over who are prepared to sign a solemn declaration are eligible to vote. In addition to reviewing financial statements, adopting annual budgets, and appointing and electing officers, Vestry meetings are an important opportunity to reflect on the work that God has been doing in our midst, and to prayerful discern where God is leading us next. Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Parish of the Valley's eight Vestry meetings so far this year. We look forward to our parish's ninth and final annual Vestry meeting this Sunday in Pembroke!
