The Episcopal Election for our Anglican Diocese of Ottawa will take place tomorrow, Saturday, February 28th, in Christ Church Cathedral. Please keep our diocese in your prayers, as well as the nominees and all members of our electoral synod as we travel to Ottawa and gather together: "Almighty God, giver of all good gifts: look on your Church with grace, and guide the minds of those who shall choose a bishop for our diocese, that we may receive a faithful servant, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

The Electoral Synod's opening Eucharist will be live-streamed beginning at 9am. Election updates following each ballot will be shared via the diocesan social media.

The Office at Aborn House will be closed on Friday, February 27th. It will reopen at 9am on Monday, March 2nd. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

On Saturday, February 28th communities throughout the Ottawa Valley will be walking the streets of Pembroke in support of those facing homelessness and insecure housing, raising funds for The Grind as a part of the Coldest Night of the Year initiative.

St. Paul's Cobden, through its 2025 Yates Bequest Donations, has generously sponsored a rest-stop on behalf of our Parish of the Valley. Rest-stops will provide warming refreshments for walkers throughout the walk.

We are also delighted to have members of the parish walking and fundraising! If you would like to join them, either in walking or by donating funds to our Angican Parish of the Valley team, you can still do so at our team page by clicking here.

Annual Vestry report packages are now available for download for our first six congregational Vestry meetings, which will take place beginning on Sunday, March 1st. Please click on the links below to access the digital Vestry report package for your congregation. Paper copies of the report packages will be made available in the coming days and at the Vestry meetings.

Gail and Rev. Matthew will be continuing to work at Aborn House over the next two weeks to compile additional Vestry report packages for the remaining congregations of our Parish of the Valley. More packages will be uploaded to our parish website and shared via email as they are completed by the staff team, typically one week in advance of the meeting in question.

The Canons, Bylaws and Regulations of our Anglican Diocese of Ottawa require the Incumbent Priest of a parish to serve as the chair of all meetings of Vestry. With the Incumbent’s agreement, an Associate Incumbent may chair a Vestry in the Incumbent’s stead.

Once again this year our Anglican Parish of the Valley is partnering with St. Timothy's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pembroke to hold sung Evening Prayer services during the Season of Lent.

Continuing each Wedensday evening at 7pm at St. Timothy's (503 Alfred Street, Pembroke) until March 25th, these are wonderful contemplative opportunities to gather on Wednesday evenings for approximately 30 minutes of prayer and song. The first two weeks will be services of Sung Lutheran Evening Prayer, and the last three services will be Holden Evening Prayer. The Parish of the Valley Clergy Team and Pastor Bruce Thompson from St. Timothy's will be sharing in the leadership of each service and we will enjoy fellowship following the service.

Join us on Friday, March 13th at St. John's Eganville: anytime after 4pm, for a 4:30 start. We will have music, activities, crafts, and end with a delicious meal.

Bring your curiosity and wiggles, and join in the fun as we gather together as families of all shapes, sizes, and ages from across the parish!

We are looking for about 10 dishwashing basins to borrow for this event. If you have any you can loan, please contact Rev. Christine at christinemuise@valleyanglicans.ca!

The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome all to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. 

The World Day of Prayer 2026 will be held on Friday, March 6, with the theme "I Will Give You Rest: Come," prepared by Christian women in Nigeria, focusing on burdens like shame, oppression, and poverty, and finding rest in God's love and community. This global, ecumenical event features a continuous wave of prayer starting in Samoa and moving around the world, using services written by women from different countries each year. 

The Parish of the Valley is pleased to be participating in three services across the parish, and Rev. Matthew will preach at the Pembroke service.

Eganville at 3pm at Grace Lutheran Church

All are welcome and encouraged to attend one of these services as we come together across denominations to pray.

St. John's Eganville is pleased to be sponsoring two Senior-Parent-Tot skating times at the Eganville Arena: Monday, March 2nd and Monday, 9th from 1pm to 1:50pm.

The Holy Trinity Pembroke Anglican Church Women will be meeting on Tuesday, March 10th at 1:30pm in the Holy Trinity church hall.

This month, the ACW will be hosting guest speakers from Columbus House in Pembroke. Tiffiny Hughes, Director of Youth Services, and Maegan Wescome, Youth Services Supervisor, will join the Holy Trinity ACW to share about how Columbus House assists youth in our community. They will give a short talk at 1:30pm, then there will be a short break before the regular ACW meeting. 

All are welcome to come and hear from Tiffiny and Maegan.

Each Lent we share a number of devotional reflections and educational opportunities that you may enjoy engaging with as an opportunity to deepen your spiritual journey through this season. This year we again have some familliar and some new suggestions for members of our parish to consider, including:

A Lenten resource from Alongside Hope (PWRDF), Taking the Wild Paths of Peace exploring the unexpected hope of peacemaking at time of conflict in the world and in our personal lives. 

Anglican Beliefs & Practices: An Online Lenten Formation Course offered by the Diocese of Algoma and Thorneloe University and featuring teaching from experienced leaders and scholars of the Anglican Church of Canada.

The Archbishop of Canterbury's Lent book, Dancing to the Heartbeat of God which includes reflections from five Canadian bishops, including Archbishop Shane Parker.

Expanded options for recyling in Ontario, including across Renfrew County, as we seek to walk gently upon the earth and care for God's Creation.

The Holy Trinity ACW Quilt Raffle took place on Tuesday, February 17th at 1pm following the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Luncheon at Holy Trinity Pembroke. Congratulations to the winner, Cathy Hogaboam, on winning the lovely quilt!
