National Day for Truth & ReconciliationWear Orange on Sunday, September 27 Each year, on the Sunday closest to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Parish of the Valley intentionally pauses to mark this national day. We wear orange as we honour and remember the children taken from their homes, often to attend church-run residential and day schools, and to honour and remember the many Indigenous people and families still living with the imapcts of the trauma of the residential school system. Please wear orange on Sunday, September 27th as we remember, honour, and mark this day as a parish. If you would like some background reading or viewing as we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we commend the following links: The Anglican Church of Canada on The Apology and Reconciliation. To celebrate, members of our Anglican Parish of the Valley have been invited to join the Ottawa Valley Lutheran Cluster of churches for their annual Reformation Sunday Service. This year's service will be held on Sunday, October 18th at 3pm at the Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre. Rev. Matthew has been invited to serve as the guest preacher for the service. All are welcome to attend! For those who wish, there will also be a ticketed smoked pork loin dinner following the service, with the meal beginning at 5pm. Tickets are $35. A limited number of tickets (all sales cash only) will be available until October 4th from Gail at our office (613-732-4658, or office@valleyanglicans.ca).
