Reformation Sunday Service & Pork Dinner

Reformation Sunday Service & Pork Dinner

Sunday, October 18

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Waterloo Declaration, a document that affirms the full communion relationship between the Anglican Church of Canada and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.

To celebrate, members of our Anglican Parish of the Valley have been invited to join the Ottawa Valley Lutheran Cluster of churches for their annual Reformation Sunday Service. This year's service will be held on Sunday, October 18th at 3pm at the Rankin Culture & Recreation Centre. Rev. Matthew has been invited to serve as the guest preacher for the service. All are welcome to attend!

For those who wish, there will also be a ticketed smoked pork loin dinner following the service, with the meal beginning at 5pm. Tickets are $35. A limited number of tickets (all sales cash only) will be available until October 4th from Gail at our office (613-732-4658, or office@valleyanglicans.ca). You can also purchase tickets from one of our neighbouring ELCiC churches in the Valley.

We give thanks for this opportunity to celebrate 25 years of partnership between Anglicans and Lutherans, and look forward to sharing in prayer and fellowship together on October 18th!

Legacy Giving Webinar

Legacy Giving Webinar

Tuesday, October 27, 11:30am-1pm - Online

Across our Diocese, there is growing interest in legacy giving - the act of making a charitable gift through your will or estate plan to your local church - and in finding thoughtful, comfortable ways to talk about it. People are asking good questions about what legacy giving actually means, how it fits within faithful stewardship, and how we can begin these conversations with our families and in our congregations.

At its heart, legacy giving is about much more than finances. It gives us an opportunity to care for the people we love while also remembering the churches, ministries and communities that have shaped our lives and that we hope will continue to serve others for generations to come. With this in mind, our diocesan Stewardship Resource Hub warmly invites you to join our legacy giving webinar Supporting the Church We Love, for Generations to Come: Your Legacy. God’s Mission. on Tuesday, October 27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For more information about the webinar participants, and a link to register, please click the link below. This will be a worthwhile webinar for all of us in the Parish of the Valley!

Celebrating Women in Leadership

Celebrating Women in Leadership

A day of worship, celebration and inspiration - Saturday, November 14

Come and celebrate with others from across our diocese the 130th Anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, the 50th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women in our Anglican Church of Canada, and the 25th Anniversary of the Christ Church Cathedral Girls Choir!

11 am - Join in a festive Choral Eucharist at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa as we give thanks for the faithful witness and leadership of women in the life of our diocese, our Church, and our world. Bishop Kathryn Otley will preach, Dean Beth Bretzlaff will preside, and the Cathedral Girls Choir with Alumnae will sing.

Following the Service - All are warmly invited to a reception with light refreshments to celebrate these significant milestones, to reconnect with friends, and to give thanks for the many women, past and present, whose leaderships strengthens our Church.

2 pm - Attend the book launch of Anne Boleyn: Reputation, Revolution, Religion, and the Queen Who Changed History by The Reverend Canon Martha Tatarnic (May 2026). Canon Tatarnic explores the life of Anne Boleyn and what her story tells us about women, religion, power, and the enduring impact of how history remembers women. Author remarks, a conversation, and an opportunity to purchase signed copies.

All are welcome!
