"In this Together"Diocesan Covid-19 Plan Bishop Shane has issued a detailed Diocesan reopening plan, entitled "In this Together". It is based on a template developed by the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario. This is a 4-stage reopening plan. We are reminded that we may be required to move back and forth between stages if there's a second wave of Covid-19. The big emphasis is on reopening Churches safely on September 6, moving from Red to Amber, as conditions allow. Our Parish has established a Task Force to help guide us through the next Amber stage. We will be contacting all wardens in about 2 weeks to discuss what exactly will be required of us. In the meantime Click here to read the "In this Together" 18 page Covid-19 reopening plan as well as a Parish checklist, as found on the Diocesan website. In it you will find a summary of the 4 stages on pages 3-4. It's a lot to take in, but fear not! Your Task Force is working hard to clarify the detail and we will work through it together. Your Task Force members are: Donna Smith, Epiphany, George Hodgkinson, Holy Trinity, Wendy Cayen, St John's, Sandra Sharp, Ascension/St John, Bishop Michael, and Canon Susan. |
Reconciliation and the Wider Church
The Schroeder family is with Bishop Michael in Barry's Bay. Bishop Michael writes, "Last week I submitted an article about the work of reconciliation on the local level here in Barry’s Bay. Over the years as I have served as a bishop, the work of reconciliation has played a central role in my ministry and one of the most remarkable examples of this is the African-Canadian Bishop’s Dialogue that I have participated in for the past eleven years. I have talked about this work in some of my sermons here in the Parish of the Valley. The Anglican Church of Canada has just released a short (14 minute) documentary video on this dialogue. This is another example of how our church has taken this work of reconciliation seriously. Click on the button below to view this video.

This latest edition of our Parish magazine contains a message from the Clergy Team, a letter from our Metropolitan of Ontario, The Most Reverend Anne Germond, on the importance of a "Summer Sabbath Rest", and various thought provoking musings and reflections. Many thanks to our editor Jean Ostrom, and assistants Naomi de Repentigny and Alexis Anderson for another fine job!
