Stewardship During COVID-19
We are grateful to those who have sent in Easter offering envelopes, who are giving online through Canada Helps, and those who continue to support our ministries through pre-authorized remittances. Thank you all for your faithful financial support during this holy season of Easter! During the COVID-19 pandemic the vast majority of our regular church expenses continue. All members of the Parish of the Valley are invited to continue making regular offerings to their home churches to support our parish's ministries and to provide for the continued care of our church buildings. Members of the parish can donate by mail or through pre-authorized remittances from your bank account (PAR). Members of Holy Trinity Pembroke and St. John's Eganville can also give directly to those churches online through Canada Helps. Every donation matters, so please click "Support Our Churches" to find out more about how you can contribute. Online and At Home Prayer Resources
In this time of physical-distancing and self-isolation it is important to remember that while we are asked to be physically distant, we are never spiritually distant. Our connection with God, and with each other, begins with prayer. In addition to weekly services of Morning Prayer recorded by the clergy team, we are actively compiling a list of videos, links and downloadable documents to help us continuing praying together at home across the parish. Click "Prayer Resources" below to find those links and documents. Our list will be added to as we discover new resources. This week we have added a number of online worship services from across Canada, as well as online tours, lectures and choir recitals from Anglican Churches around the world. Your clergy team members are always here for you. We will pray with and for you, for anyone, or for any situation. Never hestitate to telephone us or to send us an email -- even if it's "just to chat." If you have a specific prayer request, you might also call Wendy Cayen (343-369-0676) and she will direct your request to our confidential prayer chain: a group of prayerful people across the parish are committed to praying for your need every day. Connecting Through Zoom
Although we can't be physically present with each other, the wonders of technology offer us countless opportunities to still stay connected! Are you a leader of a group in our parish that typically meets in person (i.e. a choir, a women's group, men's group, altar guild, Bible study group, book study group, etc.)? Would you like to explore the possibility of meeting virtually as a group during the COVID-19 pandemic? If so, please send an email to Rev. Matthew (revmatthewbrown@gmail.com) to discuss options. The Parish of the Valley's Zoom account, which is used to film our weekly Morning Prayer services, can also be used to facilitate meetings by other small groups across our parish. Additionally, the clergy team is planning to hold a "Zoom Coffee Hour" for the Parish of the Valley on Sunday April 26th at 11am -- our next Valley Sunday! Coffee hour will also include smaller "break out rooms" so that we can meet in regional clusters. Watch for further details in next week's e-newsletter! |
Outreach During COVID-19
Many members of the parish have asked about how we can continue to offer the love and support of Christ to individuals in need during COVID-19: in our local communities, across Canada, and around the world. In our local communities, we encourage members of the parish to consider making a donation to the nearest food bank, food cupboard or soup kitchen. These services are playing an essential role in strengthening food security during the pandemic. Nationally and globally, we encourage members to continue supporting the ministries of the Primate's World Relief and Development Fund. PWRDF recently committed $200,000 to responding to COVID-19, both at home and abroad, on behalf of Canadian Anglicans. Click "Read More" to learn about these efforts.
