Indoor Worship in the Parish of the Valley
As a parish, we continue to offer both in person and online worship across the parish. Our Diocese is currently in the "Yellow Stage" of our Diocesan Plan. (You can read the Diocesan Plan, "In This Together," here). This means that for indoor in-person worship across the parish, a number of adaptations are still in place because of the pandemic. The wearing of face coverings will remain mandatory for all in attendance, including for those of among us who are fortunate enough to now be fully vaccinated. Physical distancing will also still be required between members of different households, and all attendees at worship will be asked to provide their names and contact informaiton for the purposes of contact tracing. Attendance is still capped at 30% of the building capacity, and those numbers are available at the link below, along with a list of local re-opening dates and service times. We are able to sing together as a congregation, provided masks are still worn by all while sinigng. We have also been permitted to return to the common cup for communion, meaning that bread and wine are now available to any who wish to receive. Please remember that communion "in one kind" (bread only) is considered full communion in the Anglican Church and no one is obligated to receive from the common cup. Logistics of how communion is administered will differ by church, so please listen carefully to the clergy officiating each service for instructions. For more information about reinstituting the common cup, please see this two page information sheet prepared by our diocese. While the re-opening of our church buildings is definitely a reason for us to celebrate, we also know that some members of our parish may not feel comfortable returning to worship in-person just yet. This is very understandable given the many risks that continue to be created by the pandemic, and for this reason services recorded in-person at Holy Trinity Pembroke will continue to be broadcast on YouTube and on YourTV Ottawa Valley with a one week delay for the foreseeable future. We hope these service recordings will offer those worshipping from home an opportunity to stay connected with our parish in prayer as we begin to re-open our buildings. Should you have any questions about our parish’s plans for worship, please feel free to contact any member of your clergy team, our main office at Holy Trinity Pembroke, or your local churchwardens. We are all looking forward to seeing you again for worship very soon! For more infomation visit: https://www.valleyanglicans.ca/events/indoor-worship--196/2021-08-08

Happenings Around the ParishOutreach in Killaloe From time-to-time we'd like to share events or newsy items about things going on in various parts of our parish that are connected in different ways to our parishioners and our churches. This week, we want to share some of the work that the congregation of Ascension Killaloe/St John's Tramore has been doing in response to the recommendations that came from our Parish Table Groups to the Parish Warden's meeting in March of this year. Writes Sandra Sharp, churchwarden at Ascension/St John's, You never know where a conversation will lead you. Our Church of the Ascension/St John’s council was looking at the Outreach and Volunteer Table Group’s recommendation to consider ways we could use our church buildings and property for outreach. Our initial idea was that we could use The Church of the Ascension for temporary accommodation for the homeless, but then decided that the building was not suitable. And then we decided we could hold a weekly community coffee time, which led to the suggestion that we provide soup and sandwich for Food Bank clients. This led us to talking with the Killaloe Community Resource Centre, and we are now partnering with them to do the soup and sandwich in their facility, which is more convenient for the clients as it is in the same building as the Food Bank and the used clothing room. Thank you, Ascension/St John's for sharing your work in partnering with others in your community to serve those in our midst who are in need. Is there something going on in your church, congregation, or region of the parish that you'd like to share with the rest of the parish? Send an email to Rev. Gillian! |
