During the four Sundays of Advent, we light a candle on the Advent wreaths in our churches and our homes to symbolize the passage of the four weeks of Advent leading to Christmas Eve. This year, we use the same Advent Wreath lighting prayers across the Parish of the Valley. They can be used in the home, as well as the church on Sunday morning, for families who have the tradition of an Advent wreath in the home. In addition, the clergy have each prepared a short reflection on the readings for each week, to help us focus our minds during this season of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas as well as for the return of Jesus at the second coming.
The prayers and reflections are available each week in our churches and will be added to this page throughout advent.
